Lea-Francis R Type racing two-seater 1928

Engine:
Meadows 4ED, 1496cc supercharged

Wheelbase:
8' 9"

Track:
3' 9"

This is the recreation using some original parts as have survived of one of the team of three cars built for the 1928 200 Mile Race at Brooklands.

It used a chassis based on that of the earlier (and lighter) L type chassis, as did the 1926 “Lobster” racing car, of which it was the natural successor, but with the rear springs raked upwards, a strengthened back axle, and a more powerful engine.
