2017 Annual Rally

Our Club Chairman, Sarah Poynter, recalls 2017’s successful Annual Rally:

2017 Annual Rally

I’d like to start by saying a massive thank you to Hugh Price for another excellent Annual Rally weekend. And I’m sure in turn, Hugh would like to say thank you to all those who helped and supported him, both before and during the weekend.

2017 Annual Rally

We started the weekend at Waterperry Gardens, just outside Oxford.
They had set aside an area behind the tea room, on the grass, where we could all park together and display our club banner.

After a chat over lunch, we set off to walk around the lovely gardens where you are “surrounded by beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers, classical borders, modern planting, secret corners and long vistas”. A small group meanwhile had a private tour of the house and its frescoes.

Also on the site was the Museum of Rural Life, which houses a collection of old agricultural and horticultural tools and implements. The Editor commented the display looked just like his late father’s garage but tidier! We then had a gentle drive to the Holt Hotel near Banbury, time to get changed and a leisurely drink before dinner.

The following day we set off to Broughton Castle. It is always good to meet up with everyone again in the relaxed, garden party type atmosphere. The driving tests and concours were running all day and only paused briefly for a picnic lunch. The jazz band kept us entertained throughout the day.

2017 Annual Rally

The day concluded with the usual presentation of our Annual Trophies.
